This volume includes a translation into Greek, or a re-write – according to the author – of forty poems, which he first wrote in English. Tsaloumas is a rare case of a diasporic writer who writes equally well in both English and Greek and who has no trouble switching from one language to the other. The selection includes poems from his collections Falcon Drinking, The Barge, The Harbour and Exile.

Dimitris Tsaloumas was born and raised on the island of Leros, Greece. He emigrated to Australia in 1952 and settled in Melbourne where he still lives. His first publication The Observatory was published in 1983 (as a bilingual edition) winning the Australia Book Council Award for best literary book of the year. He has since published many more collections and won several major Australian awards including the Patrick White award. His publications in Greek include the Epigrams (1983) and the collected works To Taxidi (1995).
